Corterie

Coterie was established February 2,1894, the official date for the celebration of George Washington's Birthday. Coterie holds the distinction of being Alliance's first women 's literary and social society. Coterie was established at the home of Kitti(Katharine) Ruth(later Mrs. Walter Webb) with Miss Eva McElroy as the originator,and the name given by Mrs. Mary Nash. In 1897, yellow,green and white were designated as the official colors of Coterie and the yellow rose was chosen as the emblem. Throughout its history,Coterie members, both individually and as a group, have contributed to the betterment of the Alliance community and its institutions.
